First Nations Government

Wabun Tribal Council assists its First Nation communities with negotiations and political advocacy.  The tribal council regularly meets with Chiefs and community representatives through the Wabun Chiefs meetings.

NAN Governance Process

  Wabun Tribal Council is involved in a Governance Process with Nishnawbe-Aski Nation (NAN).  The NAN Governance Strategy is aimed at giving NAN First Nations more control over the matters that affect their communities. The goal of the NAN Governance Strategy is to strengthen and empower all the First Nations of NAN.Since 2000, each of the NAN Tribal Councils have engaged Regional Governance Coordinators or RGCs, (formally Community Research Coordinators or CRCs) to support the process.
