Wabun Tribal Council Health Services is a shining example of how a Native organization has successfully taken over the administration of what was once a Federal government responsibility. Even better, Wabun’s Health Services Program made history in December 1993, as the first such organization in Ontario, to take control of health programming from the First Nations & Inuit Health Branch of Health Canada. This umbrella program runs service programs including: Community Health Nursing Program, Patient Transportation Program, Diabetes Strategy, Crisis Team Coordination and Long Term Care.
